After contacting the parish council, the Herd family very kindly donated their Horse Chestnut tree to the parish.
This tree has a fascinating story behind it. It was grown by the Herd family from a conker found outside the Methodist Church in 2000. After nurturing it for 26 years, they worked with Cllr Seddon to find the perfect location for it to be planted.
The chosen spot was where, sadly, a spruce tree had previously died. The existing tree was removed and the tree guards were restored and repainted by the parish council to provide a fitting home for this special tree. A wonderful lasting gift to the village for future generations to enjoy. And for posterity a plaque will be following in due course.
If you have a tree that you would like to donate to the parish, please contact Cllr Andrew Seddon at aseddon@stokenchurch-pc.gov.uk.
