More of our park benches restored and signs painted!

It’s been another productive weekend around Stokenchurch Common and the village, with a number of small but worthwhile improvements carried out.

The two remaining benches on the Common have now been stained, giving them a new lease of life and helping protect them for years to come. (Thanks once again to Diamond Pressure Washing Services )

A number of signs have also been repainted, while several street and highway signs have been cleaned, along with a number of our footpath signs.

COULD YOU SPARE AN HOUR OR TWO?

We’ve been receiving quite a few private messages from residents offering to help with small community projects — things like painting, clearing verges, planting and watering plants, tidying public spaces and generally helping to keep Stokenchurch looking its best.

So, we’re looking at setting up a new Stokenchurch Volunteer Group.

We’re currently speaking with our insurance providers and working out the practicalities and logistics, but we’d love to know whether there is enough interest from residents who might be willing to give an hour or two at a weekend when projects come up.

We’re also looking at an Adopt a Patch scheme, where residents could volunteer to look after a particular planter, flower bed, small area of greenery or other community space — helping with things such as planting, watering and keeping it tidy.

If you would be interested in joining the volunteer group, please simply email: clerk@stokenchurch-pc.gov.uk. That’s all we need at this stage.

You do not need to tell us your availability, commit to a particular date or say what jobs you would like to do.

We are simply trying to establish how many people would be interested in being contacted when the volunteer group is ready to launch.

There is no obligation to take part in every project — we’ll let volunteers know when opportunities come up and you can decide whether you’re available.
